The Start

Well I guess i had better explain myself! Who do i think i am? Coming on the internet, thinking that i am good enough to spring my views onto unsuspecting innocent people. Trying to lure them into my mind so i can trap them and turn them to the dark side. Am i a nefarious evil doer intent to take over the world one blog reader at a time? Quite simply... no.
You may expect an evil doer to say that and therefore question the validity of the statement. That is your prerogative. But to those who are willing to chance it let me assure you there will be no evil doings in this blog post.
Now, if you will all send me your bank account numbers and pin codes I will prove how trustworthy I am... I joke!
If you have made it this far into the post, I commend you, even I had to go make a cup of tea and come back. After all this nonsense I guess some perspective is needed on the author.
Reading other blogs on the world wide web (less syllables than www) they all seem to be written by 2 main groups of people.
  1. Those who loved English at school. Not to put too fine a point on it I didn't. I was so terrible that the teacher almost stopped looking at my homework and graded it on how many pages there were. (This, by the way, is a not-so-subtle way of saying "Sorry for the bad spelling and grammar").
  2. Those who have a point to say and want to get it across in a 'hip' and 'chic' mass communication medium (and other teenage lingo decided upon by the middle aged board members)
Now I know I am generalizing, and that is wrong, so I apologize to those who are like me. Just trying something new.
Ok, this has been a strange post so far and I feel I should have put a warning above. However that would run the risk of turning some of you off. I feel confident enough that you will continue reading now so here it goes:

**** Warning: Prone to tangents, sidetracks and nonsense! Proceed at own risk****

I also feel that I owe it to you readers to explain why I have started this blog. I can't sleep! I am not an insomniac or anything of the kind. It's just sometimes I find it hard to doze off. A friend and fellow blogger told me how she uses it as a cathartic nightcap, to help her on to the land of nod. I guess there is no harm in trying!
Now the narcissistic bit... a little about me: I am a child of the 80's, brought up in the UK but spent most of my teenage and adult life in Asia and the Middle East, with brief stints in the US and Europe. To say I have had an unusual life so far, would be pretty accurate. The rough idea for the blog came from times with family and friends where they have said that if you wrote every strange/funny event down it would make a good book. Well I doubt that it would make a good book, but it may make an entertaining blog. So I invite you and your friends along to enjoy (hopefully) the life and times of Sir Bigjim.
